Try to clean the engine really well (with brake clean or something) and take out out for a drive when your drive pop the hood and see if you can better pinpoint the leak.

^^^^^Good idea, and leave the engine running while you look under the hood.
that might help duplicate the problem

so when you give it gas.... make sure the oil cap is on, if not the oil will shoot straight up on the hood by the passanger side area I know this because a long time ago I was checking the oil and was tapping it off just a hair and I had to remove the oil cap to add a little bit more oil. then went for a long drive and on the way back I went to fill her up again and checked the oil and saw the oil cap laying on the engine , was so lucky it didn't fall. it lost about 1/2 of quart of oil and it had oil on top of the hood by the pasanger side area. I drove all the way from Knoxville to Atlanta with no oil cap I was lucky I didn't blow the motor then get a MR20

I was like 14 and had changed the oil in my dads car about a week before. At the time he was driving a diesel Jetta. One morning it wouldn't start, so he took a different car to work. I was like sure I will take a look, and popped the hood, then saw that I forgot the oil filler cap. I instantly panicked and thought I wrecked the engine. Which of course was false, turned out to be a bad fuel pump, but I haven't forgotten to put the filler cap on since Happy ending that's good!!!!!!!!!!
